the studio
CGI was the craft.
AI changed what’s possible.
Red and Gray has been producing commercial imagery since 2002. For most of those 24 years that meant CGI — product visuals, architectural visualisation, interior sets — built to a standard that could replace photography for brands that needed volume, consistency, and speed that a studio shoot could not deliver.
In the last several years, AI changed what we can offer. Not as a replacement for the craft, but as an extension of it. Rapid interior variations. Controlled environments. Product placement that would otherwise need a location shoot or stock photography that never quite fits. The quality standard stays the same. The cost and timeline do not.
Twenty-four years of CGI knowledge is what makes the AI output credible. Without that foundation, AI imagery looks like AI imagery. With it, it passes the photograph test.
what that means now
A studio built for buyers who cannot afford to get it wrong.
Most of our work is for sales and marketing teams at large national manufacturers, agencies running high-volume creative programmes, and architects and developers needing high-end visualisation before a project breaks ground. They have one thing in common: the imagery has to be right, and there is rarely time or budget for a second attempt.
That is the studio we have built. Not the largest. Not the cheapest. The one that gets called when the work has to land.
why specialist
There are bigger studios.
None more focused.
Generalist creative platforms cover everything from social posts to motion design. We don’t. We produce one thing — photoreal CGI and AI imagery — and we have produced it for two decades. That focus is the point, not a limitation.
why specialist
Wide capability, shared standard.
red and gray
One discipline. Done thoroughly.
the production standard
Every image leaves the studio having
passed three tests.
Quality is not a value. It is a production standard. Ours is stated, applied, and never optional.
test 01
Does it prove craft to a sceptical buyer?
test 02
Would it pass as a real photograph?
test 03
Does it look like a serious studio made it?
If the answer to any is no, the image does not leave us. The brief is reworked, not approved.

founder
Founder-led. By design.
Red and Gray is a founder-led studio. That means the person who started it in 2002 still reads the briefs, still sets the quality bar, and still answers the phone. Not as a marketing line — as a production decision.
For the kind of work we do, where a single image carries a brand or sells a product range before launch, that direct line matters. Briefs are not lost in account management. Quality is not delegated to a chain of approvals. The studio operates the way buyers actually want a creative partner to operate — quickly, precisely, and without filler in between.

who we work with
Three buyer types.
One shared problem.
type one
Sales and Marketing Directors at large national manufacturers.
Full product ranges across multiple finishes, every SKU shot for catalogue, web, retail, and trade. Photography would take longer and cost more than the brief allows.
type two
Marketing leads at agencies running high-volume creative accounts.
Recurring imagery needs across campaigns, regions, and seasons. Need a specialist partner whose pipeline can match agency turnaround without compromising the quality bar.
type three
Architects and developers needing high-end visualisation before a project breaks ground.
Schemes that need to look real before they exist. Used for planning, sales, investor communications, and pre-launch marketing across residential and commercial projects.
